Are you interested in developing your understanding of the stock market? Have you ever felt confused when you hear news about the stock market? Have you heard stories of people who made large amounts of money investing in stocks, and wondered, "How does that work?". This tutorial is designed to help you answer all of these questions.
Although this is just a section of the simCEO simulation, it is designed as a stand-alone learning guide. By reading some text, following examples, and taking part in some periodic quizzes to test yourself, you will be able to come away from this tutorial with a solid understanding how the stock market operates. You will also learn the basic criteria that successful investors use to determine whether a company would be considered a good investment. Specifically, you should be able to:
- understand the stock market's function for both owners and investors,
- understand what drives prices up and down,
- recognize and apply the concepts of Earnings Per Share (EPS), Price/Earnings Ratio (P/E), and factoring growth in the valuation of a company.
