Demo: Creating a Business

How will students develop their own businesses?

Before the simulation begins, the instructor will define the environment for the students' businesses. It is very important that participants read the conditions of this "assumed situation" so that they can create the best business possible. The environment for the simulation can range from Mexico today to Chicago in 1930. This is one aspect where the instructor can focus student attention towards specific situations. Sample environments are included in the set-up section of the simulation. Instructors can copy or modify these samples or create an original environment for each simulation.

Once the environment has been established, participants will be presented with a number of short worksheets containing simple questions regarding the specific business they wish to establish. After each worksheet is completed by each student, it is submitted and immediately becomes part of the simulation so that other students can research each others' businesses. Each worksheet helps further define a student's business plan.

The instructor will select specific worksheets for students to communicate their business. These worksheets are further explained in our next page.
